About Us

United Rental Group owns and manages United Rental System, which is a Licensee network of some 390 independent car and van hire companies, operating from over 440 rental locations throughout UK.

Our combined Licensee rental fleet is over 46,000 vehicles and features cars, car-derived vans, light commercial vehicles, minibuses, 4 x 4s, trucks, tractor units and specialised vehicles such as refrigerated vans & trucks, access vehicles, cherry-pickers and motorhomes.

About our Licensees

Before they are invited to become a Licensee of United Rental System, each carefully selected rental company is mystery-shopped, vetted for quality and must satisfy a 15-point pre-entry criteria. Each is chosen on the basis that United Rental Group management considers them to be the leading independent rental company in their respective area.

Every United Rental System Licensee Principal is a highly-motivated entrepreneur, who has made substantial personal investment in their own successful vehicle rental operation. Many are long-established family businesses. Such committed owner-managers have unrivalled knowledge of their local market-place and are totally focused on delivering high quality service at value-for-money rates. They offer daily, weekly and long-term vehicle hire products and are totally flexible with regards to their customer's individual needs.

All United Rental System Licensees trade under their own name and local identity and retain complete managerial control over their own business. You'll find one or more in most major UK towns and cities plus some in locations which other networks seem unable to cover with a fully-operational rental office.

Please remember - when you rent from a United Licensee, you are dealing directly with the vehicle supplier. There is no hidden agency commission or brokerage fee to pay at United, so why use a middleman? Brokers might have a fancy website but will often own no vehicles of their own, rarely see their actual customers and could be operating with a couple of PCs from a bedroom!

United Rental Group is also profitable and we are proud of that fact. However, this is only possible by our Licensee partners continuing to make even more profit out of the on-going business relationship, thereby enabling them to provide high quality vehicles and service to their customers.

Whilst many of our 390 Licensee Principals become personal friends and not just business acquaintances, one thing is for certain - none would stay with us unless they were continuing to profit from the relationship - year after year. And that is how it should be, since it keeps United management very much on our toes, working for the benefit of our Licensees.

We are aware that competition exists in our sector of the market and whilst some competitors have ceased trading in the past couple of years, we are flattered that others still try to copy our business model. Choice is always welcome in any market but, as we sometimes have to remind our Licensees - if they go shopping for a cheaper suit, that's inevitably what they get - a cheap suit.
